An Elk City woman is being held in the Custer County Jail on a $75-thousand dollar bond for allegedly selling Methamphetamine.

The formerly convicted felon, 30-year-old Crystal Dawn Cape was arrested on Thursday, June 30 at a motel in Weatherford. Her initial appearance was the next day, July 1 in district court.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Weatherford Police were tipped off that a woman was attempting to sell meth from a motel room located in the 3400 block of East Main Street.

When police arrived, Cape gave officers the name of what turned out to be her sister, but later confessed that she was Crystal Cape, telling officers that she lied because she didn’t want to go to jail on the two warrants out for her arrest, one a misdemeanor and the other a felony.

While the defendant was getting her shoes, the officer allegedly observed a zip lock bag in plain view on the dresser in the motel room. Inside, the officer found a smaller bag with a white crystal substance in it.  When asked, Cape allegedly said it was meth.

A search warrant on the room later allegedly turned up another plastic bag with a white crystal substance, a burnt joint, two scales with residue, several syringes, rolling papers and a silver spoon with a white substance on it. The white crystal substance tested positive for meth and had a weight of 33 grams, according to the probable cause report which also states that trafficking weight for meth is 20 grams.

Cape allegedly told a detective that she sells meth but didn’t sell any from the room and that she prefers to inject it.

She’s been previously incarcerated for possession of a controlled, dangerous substance, robbery of force or fear, conspiracy, forgery and larceny from a house.

Her next court date is August 5 on the new charges of trafficking in illegal drugs after former conviction, possession of a CDS and possession of drug paraphernalia.
