An Elk City man has been arrested on a felony complaint of possession of drugs.

43-year-old Kelly Roger Nelson, a convicted felon, was picked up at an Elk City motel on Sunday evening after someone called police to report that Nelson was in town and staying at the motel located on South Main Street.

Patrolmen were requested to arrest Kelly for failure to register as a sex-offender.

Upon arrival at the motel room, a female let officers into the room where they found Kelly laying on the bed. He asked if he could put his pants and shirt on, but failed to put on a pair of light brown, alligator-skinned boots.  When asked about putting on his boots, Kelly responded, “No, just leave them.”

During a pat-down, police allegedly found a pipe that the officer said was used for smoking methamphetamine in his right, front pocket. Kelly allegedly admitted that there were drugs in his boot.

Prior to placing him inside the patrol unit, police patted him down again and allegedly found a small blue baggie in his front watch pocket containing white, crystal rocks. During the book-in at the city jail, he allegedly said he’d used meth two hours prior to being arrested at the motel.

Inside Kelly’s boot, police found a black zipper bag that contained two used syringes, a spoon containing a white, crystal substance and a homemade meth melting spoon that also contained a white, crystal substance.

The substance on the spoon field tested positive for meth.

Kelly’s pleaded guilty to a number of other charges over the last nine years including failure to register as a sex offender, three times, aggravated assault and battery and assault on a police officer, possession of a controlled, dangerous substance and attempted escape from arrest.

No court date has been listed for Kelly on online court records.
