An Elk City man has found his way back inside the Beckham County Detention Center after police allegedly found drugs inside his residence.

48-year-old Billy Ray Watley is in the detention center on bonds totaling over $36-thousand dollars after being arrested on a bench warrant last week.

According to a probable cause affidavit, police were called to a home in the 300 block of Lester last December as a result of a resident that wanted subjects removed from her home, calling them “druggy people.” One of the subjects turned out to be Watley.

During a search of the home, investigators allegedly found narcotics and drug paraphernalia inside of Watley’s bedroom in the southwest corner of the house.

When informed that an officer had allegedly found methamphetamine in his room, Watley allegedly said that he was sorry and was trying to quit.  He also said that he often had “subjects” coming over to his house and that he was trying to control them but they wouldn’t stop coming over.

In addition to the illegal controlled, dangerous substance, police also allegedly found a stolen safe in his room, 13 white pills, five spoons with white crystal substance (one of which field tested positive for meth) used syringes and another spoon and a syringe with a clear liquid. Police also found a different syringe with what appeared to be blood in it.

In a different part of the home, police allegedly located a defender security system and four camera heads, a 6 mm plastic gun altered to look as if it was real and a gray camera case with a light bulb containing a white burnt residue.

Watley implicated a woman, 42-year-old Cherry D. Williams, also of Elk City. Watley first told officers that for the last seven days he had a relationship with her.  Later he told investigators that his relationship with Williams is more like friends with benefits.

He was arrested on Tuesday, June 21 and charged with possession of a CDS, knowingly concealing stolen property, possession of a firearm after former felony conviction, tampering with a security camera and possession of drug paraphernalia.

No court date has yet been set according to online court records.

A warrant for Williams arrest was filed on the 21st on the charge of possession of a controlled, dangerous substance, but she remains at large according to online court records.
